This would give you some foundational understanding of the ideas, frameworks, language, and most pressing issues in the world behind Doing Good Better. If you have not registered for Doing Good Better, register now! This is Effective Altruism Singapore's biggest event of the year and will be held on October 5th (Saturday). We’re bringing together researchers, philanthropists, academics, social impact organisations, corporate professionals, and students to engage with addressing some of the world’s most pressing problems.Get the rare opportunity to hear from EA speakers including Michael Faye (GiveDirectly), John Halstead (Founders Pledge), Varun Deshpande (Good Food Institute), Sally Tsai (Affinity Impact), Najwa Al Abdallah (Schistosomiasis Control Initiative), Michael Plant (University of Oxford), Preston Greene (NTU), and more.----------"With limited time and resources, how can I make the greatest positive impact in this world?" That is the question which we ask at effective altruism (EA)—a global movement that seeks to apply evidence and reason to determine the most effective ways to improve the world. Effective Altruism Singapore (EA SG) is part of the network of EA chapters globally. If you care about doing good in more effective ways, come join us for an introduction to EA to find out more about how you can make a difference in the world. This event is for anyone who is new to EA and is interested to learn about basic EA concepts! We'll be sharing: • Why EA exists, and what it is or does.• A framework on choosing the best decision to to good.• The most pressing global problems.Some IMPORTANT things to take note of:• This event will be inside NVPC, which is located in Clarke Quay Central. Clark Quay MRT is the closest station. It's tricky to find it, but here's a video guide and a PDF guide that you can follow. • Please bring dinner if you have not eaten yet. We don't serve food unfortunately. Not only do we at EA SG organise events like this to engage the general public, we also work with academics, researchers, students, donors, philanthropists, social impact organisations, and corporates to share ideas and look at ways for how to do good more effectively.
