My work has been shortlisted for the Governor-General’s Award for fiction and the Journey Prize for short fiction (Canada). In 2016 Ice Diaries: an Antarctic Memoir, which The New York Times has called ‘stunningly written’, won the Grand Prize at the Banff Mountain Film Festival Book Competition. A novel, The Dhow House, was published by Legend Press in the UK in September 2016 and by ECW Press in Canada and the US in 2017. A new novel, Fire on the Mountain, is published in the UK with Legend in February 2018. In legal circles, Tina is known for her prolific writing on social awareness and development of related law, including memoranda on law reform on behalf of the Malaysian Bar. She was a Council Member of the 36-person Malaysian Bar Council from 2010 to 2013, and helmed their editorial/publication team as the Editor-in-Chief of Praxis, a quarterly legal and lifestyle magazine of Advocates & Solicitors in active private practice in Peninsula Malaysia.Tina has published numerous short stories and is presently working on her debut novel under the pen name Tina Isaacs (a name she went by while schooling in England). He was also the second runner-up in the Montblanc X Esquire Singapore Fiction Writers Prize 2017 for his short story, Sang. Suffian has given workshops and talks at the Singapore Writers Festival, Campus Party Singapore, Read!Fest Singapore, the Makassar International Writers Festival and the Cairo Literary Festival. The Straits Times has described Suffian as “one of the most whimsical, creative and unpretentious young voices in Singapore literature”, while his mother has described him as “criminally negligent in cleaning up his room.”
