Meet at the Former Kubota Family Residence (Kyū Kubota-ke Jūtaku)
Walk amongst the buildings of Hagi’s old townscape, and travel back in time with us to the age of the samurai! Starting with the Former Kubota Family Residence, our guides will take you on a tour of Hagi’s traditional, feudal castle town. We will also visit the sprawling residence and garden of an important merchant family, the Kikuyas. There we will be served matcha in Hagi ware – Hagi’s local ceramic with over 400 years of history.
You don’t have to wear a kimono to join the tour, but those wearing a kimono will receive a special present! Kimonos are available to rent at the Former Kubota Family Residence, so make sure to go there and get dressed up in time for 2pm.
