OMNIプロジェクトワークショップ：海について人々によく分かってもらうために何ができるだろう？
OMNIプロジェクトワークショップでは、海にまつわる問題をテーマにします。人々に海にまつわる様々な問題について理解を深めてもらうためにはどうしたら良いか、アイディアを作りながら考えます。ワークショップを通して、OMNIプロジェクトのチームメンバーと一緒に海の未来を探索しましょう！最初に、東京大学生産技術研究所で行っている海洋センシングネットワークの研究を紹介します。カジュアルな雰囲気の中、アイディア創出のためのデザインシンキングの手法とプロセスを実際に体験してみましょう。メンバーと一緒に、新しい研究のアイディアや大胆なアイディアを創り出しながら、どのように海の問題に取り組むかを考えます。海には気候変動についての秘密が隠されており、また種々の海洋資源が存在します。しかしながら、人類がこれまで調査したのは海のたった5％にも過ぎません。おそらく、海よりも月面に関しての方が、人類が知っていることが多いのではないでしょうか。OMNIはOcean Monitoring Network Initiative（海洋モニタリングネットワークイニシアティブ）の略称であり、海洋データを収集し分析するための、低価格でオープンソースのプラットフォームを作ることを目的としています。このプロジェクトを実現するためには、ある一つの集まりだけでは難しく、様々な人や団体のコラボレーションが鍵となります。今後、詳細で多様なデータを収集するため、最新のセンサー技術を組み込んだモジュラーシステムを用いてOMNIを改良していく必要があります。未来の世代のために様々なことを決断したり、海や環境の健康を守るためのサステナブルなポリシーを作るためには、そうしたデータが不可欠です。またデータの活用方法として、海について新しいことを学んだり、海に住む繊細な生き物たちのことを新たに知ったりするなど、教育的な使い道も考えられます。こうした市民型・参加型プロジェクトでは、皆さんのインプットが何よりも大切です。当日、ワークショップでお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！※ワークショップは日本語と英語の両言語で行われます。
Join us for a casual workshop on ‘How can we help people to understand the ocean better’ with Omni Project team members!
We will introduce research from the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo on the Ocean Monitoring Network Initiative. Experience design-thinking methods and process for ideation in a casual and open atmosphere. Be a part of explorative and disruptive idea generation on how we can tackle the challenges of the ocean.The oceans carry secrets about climate change, sources of nutrition and natural resources; yet only 5% of the world’s oceans have been fully explored. We probably know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the ocean.
OMNI is an ‘Ocean Monitoring Network Initiative’ to build a low cost and open-source platform to gather and analyse critical data from the sea. This project cannot be carried out by one party alone, it needs collaboration and meaningful links with multiple partners.A modular system needs to be developed that can be equipped with modern sensor technology to gather detailed and diverse data. Having such data would allow us to make decisions for future generations and create sustainable policies to maintain the health of the ocean environment. Furthermore, it should serve an educational purpose to help people learn more from the oceans and create awareness with the general public about the fragile marine habitat.We are looking forward to welcoming you to ideate and discuss the challenges of the ocean.
