The idea to form the orchestra originated from a chamber ensemble that was formed to support a conducting workshop for young conductors, the Woodlands Young Conductors Workshop (WYCW). This year is the 10th anniversary of the WYCW and a new component was added to expose participants to conducting a chamber ensemble other than just the wind band. Maestro Tsung Yeh will be guiding the participants in the chamber ensemble component  of the conducting workshop in November 2019.The orchestra is made up of music teachers, amateur musicians, and professionals from various fields of work but more importantly, the orchestra is made up of friends. Everyone had performed together previously either in the Singapore Youth Orchestra, during National Service, in local community orchestras, in local community bands or have worked together in some musical establishments. The orchestra provides us all with the opportunity to perform together again and to rekindle the memories of a time gone by.As we grow as an orchestra, we hope to champion good quality chamber music and music education for our communities and our future generations of musicians and chamber music enthusiasts.  We also hope to cross the boundaries of race, language and religion in our journey to spread the joy of chamber music.================================About Hoang Van Hoc, horn soloistSingaporean horn player Hoang Van Hoc began his studies with David Jolley at the Hartt School of Music, Connecticut, USA and with James Sommerville at the Longy School of Music, Massachusetts, USA where he received his Undergraduate Diploma in 2000 and his Master of Music in 2001.
