Dance immersions and other platforms have led her to dance in Taiwan, Barcelona, London and Korea before she began formal dance training at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where she has worked with local and international choreographers such as Richard Chappell, Lucy Marinkovich, Mel O'Callaghan, Lee Mun Wai, Lim Fei Shen, Kevin Wynn and Ezekiel Oliveira. While on exchange to SUNY Purchase College in 2017 she co-created 'The Happening' with Ethan Desautels - a recurring sound, lights and movement exploratory event that is still ongoing on campus today and is participated by artists of various disciplines.  In the past year, Shaw En has performed in Off Stage in M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival, and is an associate artist of P7:1SMA a local malay-contemporary dance company, performing a number of site-specific works by Norhaizad Adam. Her work 'komastai' was staged at The Esplanade as part of da:ns Festival 2018. She danced with Frontier Danceland Company in their annual company production Millieu and participated actively in their community outreach projects and Works-In-Progress creation period, during which she collaborated with Faye Tan in an exploratory process culminating in a largely improvised duet. In march, she was commissioned to choreograph for Frontier Danceland’s Pulse Scholars' programme.  As a company dancer of Richard Chappell Dance, she was part of the research and creation process for Silence Between Waves, a site-specific community inclusive dance work at Berryhead, UK from April to June this year, which also toured to theatres there. In august, she performed for Syimah Sabtu collective in DANCE FOR ME at the Substation as part of State of Love and Trust and Stars curated by Rizman Putra.  Currently, she is an artist supported by P7:1SMA’s choreographic platform- Catalyst, and a movement educator for various groups in the local community, working with children ages 3-6, youths with special needs and also with the elderly.
