There, he found his voice – literally and figuratively – and went on to become the ‘Voice of Malaysia’, lending his distinctive vocals to nearly all local English advertisements in the 1980s. Patrick’s trail is an intriguing web of local landmarks, stories that have never been told, and the people whose lives are woven into Old Town’s history. The walk begins at FMS Bar, the oldest in Peninsular Malaysia, that’s marked by the tragic story of a man who has worked there since he was 12. Meet Ian Anderson, the kwai lo who is working tirelessly to restore Ipoh’s heritage buildings. Discover the secrets of the leong cha mui (herbal tea girl), a mysterious phenomenon nobody seems to remember or have any photographic evidence of. The trail ends at Sinhalese Bar, where little has changed since its swinging doors first opened to guests in 1931.Dates: 31st Oct, Sat & 1st Nov, Sun (http://patrickteoh01.peatix.com/)Time: 3PMMeeting point: F.M.S.
