On the one hand, learners and investigators have access to myriad sources of information and perspective. On the other hand, such access has perpetuated habits of “copying” ideas and/or artifacts without citations or understanding of the progenitor of such materials. In this workshop, we will look at plagiarism practices and share how facilitators can incorporate processes that expect learners to not only recognize and evaluate sources, but to analyze their findings in the interest of authentic contextualization.Participants will actively immerse themselves in brain-based learning through various structured thinking skills. In so doing, participants will reimagine their course content using this methodology. By the end of the workshop, participants will have plotted out an activity that embodies structured thinking skills utilizing Blackboard tools.Participants may bring in plagiarism practices to discuss and their own responses to circumvent such habits.About the FacilitatorDr. Susan D’Aloia is an interdisciplinary educator and program developer who has worked as a consultant and trainer in the United States, Latin America and Asia.
