Strategies to Train for Endurance Sports
Nutrition and having a well-strategized training program form the pillars of a holistic athletic career. Eating well for fuel and recovery ensures that you maximize your training and minimize your off-road times. Whether you compete to be at the top, or choose to complete, every athlete should be empowered with sound nutritional knowledge to help them decide what helps and what doesn't to prevent the slump.
Jeri Chua, ultrarunner and founder of Red Dot Running Company, will host a session on fuelling for sport and competition. With a Masters in Exercise and Nutrition Science, and two decades worth of experience in endurance racing, Jeri's talk will also cover pre- and post- competition nutrition, how to optimise recovery and maximise performance gains.
Fail to plan, plan to fail. We all know 'practice makes perfect', however, what does it take to be situationally prepared? Progressing too quickly with too much load stresses the body and hastens injury. Undertraining pushes fatigue earlier on race day. Understanding your physical capability and employing the right strategies to amp up your performance is half the battle won.
Deeply passionate Tri-sport coach and Founder of COS Coaching, Colin O'Shea will be sharing on ways to prepare for your first successful event and teach you strategies to get you on track and better prepared for your next Ironman or triathlon endeavours!
Whether you are an avid runner who clock loads of miles on the road, or an established triathlete who spend hours to train in three various sports, time to condition and work on your joints are an equal form of discipline. Pilates has been widely seen as a complementary mode of cross training for sports.
Kimberly, a fully certified Pilates Instructor and an avid runner who has recently ventured into trail running and multisport events, will be briefly sharing how she incorporated Pilates into her training for a 42-km mountain race which she had completed in Vietnam last year. She and her colleagues will lead you through Pilates routines that are beneficial to endurance athletes especially for runners.
Join us for a 45-min Pilates Mat/ Reformer* class and experience how that would complement your training. Learn how to intervene before injury sets in!
*Limited to 6 participants for Reformer class.
