ABOUT TINA CHANGTina Chang was raised in New York City. She is the first female to be named Poet Laureate of Brooklyn and is the author of the collections of poetry Of Gods & Strangers (2011) and Half-Lit Houses (2004). She is also the co-editor of the W.W. Norton anthology Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia, and Beyond (2008). She is the recipient of awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Academy of American Poets, Poets & Writers, the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, and the Van Lier Foundation among others. She teaches poetry at Sarah Lawrence College and she is also a member of the international writing faculty at the City University of Hong Kong.ABOUT RAJIV JOSEPHRajiv Joseph’s plays include Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, a 2010 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Gruesome Playground Injuries, Animals Out of Paper, The North Pool, The Lake Effect, Mr. Wolf and Guards at the Taj. He is the book-writer and co-lyricist for the musical, Fly. Rajiv also wrote for the Showtime series “Nurse Jackie” for seasons 3 and 4 and was the co-screenwriter of the film Draft Day, which was released last year. Rajiv received his B.A. in Creative Writing from Miami University and his M.F.A. in Playwriting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He served for three years in the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa.ABOUT AMERICAN WRITERS FESTIVAL 2015The Festival provides a wonderful opportunity to meet and engage with some of today’s most celebrated American writers. ABOUT DESMOND KONDesmond Kon Zhicheng-Mingdé is the author of the epistolary novel, Singular Acts of Endearment, a hybrid work, Babel Via Negativa, as well as four poetry collections. A former journalist, he has edited over fifteen books and co-produced three audio books, several pro bono for non-profit organizations. Trained in book publishing at Stanford University, Desmond received his theology masters (world religions) from Harvard University and fine arts masters (creative writing) from the University of Notre Dame. His honors include the Independent Publisher Silver Book Award (Multicultural Fiction), Poetry World Cup, National Arts Council Creation Grant, and PEN American Center Shorts Prize. He is the first-ever winner in both Poetry and Visionary Fiction categories at the Beverly Hills International Book Awards, as well as to have two collections tie for Poetry at the National Indie Excellence Book Awards. An interdisciplinary artist, Desmond helms Squircle Line Press as its founding editor.
