Key Elements is Singapore’s premier a cappella group. Formed in 2001, the mixed group now comprises three gentlemen and three ladies, all of whom have prior experience with other a cappella groups. Although the group has a penchant for jazz and swing numbers, they have a repertoire that spans showtunes, radio-friendly pop from different decades as well as songs in languages other than English. This is reflected in their four CDs (two EPs and two full albums). Their latest, which was released in Oct 2013, is an album of original songs written by Jason Ong. The other members of Key Elements are Chua Kim Beng, Vaughan Tan, Chua Hui Lian, Gail Wong and Cherie Chai. Over the years, Key Elements has performed in corporate functions, dinner & dances, as well as concerts. They are no strangers to The Esplanade, having held concerts in the various halls of the prestigious performing arts centre. In 2007, the group had the rare honour of opening for award-winning Swedish a cappella outfit, The Real Group, when they performed at The Esplanade. Key Elements has also performed for many distinguished guests, including MM Lee Kuan Yew and President S R Nathan.
