Dr. Jade KuaBiographyDr Jade Kua is a paediatric emergency specialist and proud mother of several children. In 2018, she launched the DARE (Dispatcher-Assisted first REsponder) app to teach the community CPR and published a children’s book on saving lives. She hopes to push the boundary further this year by championing paediatric resuscitation among layman.SynopsisTo encourage lay people in the community to step forward to help cardiac arrest victims, the Dispatcher-Assisted first REsponder (DARE) team has since 2014 trained over 85,000 participants with its innovative programme: hands-only chest compression. The DARE app was conceived in 2018 as part of the nation-wide DARE campaign to provide the community crucial educational resources related to cardiac arrest. It also allows the public to sign up for DARE training so that they can be equipped with the essential life-saving skills. Complementing the DARE app is the SCDF myResponder app, developed in 2015 to alert members of the public (also known as Community First Responders) so that they are able to voluntarily respond to cardiac arrest (and fire) cases within 400m of their location.
