Travel with TripHugger: Kamakura Summer Fireworks July 23th, 2015

Kamakura Fireworks

Kamakura and the surrounding area is a great place for a day trip from Tokyo. In Kamakura, the 13.35m-in-heights buddha awaits in the open air. The ancient temple, Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu, with a thousand year of history is also there. Enoshima is a island with the great sea view and all kinds of Japanese traditional desserts and boutique shops. By the coastline, there are many good coffee shops and restaurants. With the fireworks in the evening, it will make a perfect 1-day trip.

Unlike most of the fireworks held on the rivers, such as Edogawa, Arakawa, Tamagawa and Sumidagawa, the Kamakura fireworks will be fired both from boats aligned in a semicircle and from the beach. Also, you will be seated closer to the fireworks and be able to feel the impulsive sound when the fireworks are fired. Although the number of fireworks are only 2500, with the special seaside view and the fireworks, we think it will totally worth the trip!
