Multi-talented TV personality, Rita Zahara's first book on her mother's recipes did so well in 2012 that it launched her into the food business. She now runs a food tech company, Li Da Foods which manages healthy, food delivery services, AMGD and CZ Bakery, which is now expanding to Hong Kong.
As grandaughter of Che Zahara, founder of the first Malay welfare home of Singapore in 1947, Rita has strong ties to the local heritage and community.
In her latest book, Ms Zahara assembled a collection of authentic recipes from notable personalities in Singapore and also established restaurants such as Sabar Menanti, Warong Nasi Pariaman, Hjh Maimunah Restaurant, Mamanda and Islamic in Kampong Glam.
With over 70 recipes, the book reflects the various sub-ethnic groups to be found in Singapore, namely Javanese, Bawanese, Minangkabau and also the regional influences such as Kelantanese and royal Malay fare.
