Copal Publishing in association with billionBRICKS will be organizing a book event for the book- The City Observed: Notes From an Unfolding India. The author of the book, Ms. Pallavi Shrivastava will be in conversation with Prasoon Kumar of billionBRICKS.

About the book: The City Observed is a compilation of essays and writings to understand Mumbai's built environment with a more holistic view of cultural, social and economic forces at play rather than in isolation as an egoistic feat or an attempt to replicate borrowed ideas without the context. The book is an inquiry into some of the issues around the context which defines and shapes built environment and manifests itself in an outcome which can sometimes be divisive, disturbing and incoherent.


About the author: Pallavi Shrivastava is an architectural designer, currently based in Mumbai. Pallavi has been writing as as architecture and design critic for various platforms and her writings have appeared on World Architecture News, Global Urbanist and other professional mediums. With her writings, she likes to probe issues of culture, heritage and identity in architecture, design and urban planning under the rubric of built environment.


About the event partner: billionBRICKS is a Singapore based non-profit organization which aims to improve the quality of life of the homeless through the power of design, technology and good architecture.
