MaGIC - Set Yourself on Fire: Startup Lessons from a YC Founder
About the Speaker :
Jason Shen was a co-founder of Ridejoy, a network for long-distance rideshare. Ridejoy raised over $1.3M from Y Combinator and other Silicon Valley investors, built a community of 30,000 drivers and passengers, and built an iPhone app that was featured by Apple in the App Store. Jason is currently a marketing manager at Percolate, a fast-growing enterprise software company based in New York.
Jason's blog, the Art of Ass-Kicking, had nearly 200k readers in 2014 and his book "Winning Isn't Normal" was an Amazon Best-Seller. He earned a BS and MS from Stanford University, where he was team captain of the 2009 NCAA national championship team.
Jason, co-founder of YC backed Ridejoy, will share hard-earned lessons learned from his years of experience in early-stage startups. He'll talk through how he really got into Y Combinator (they changed the idea 3x!) and give founders specific, tactical advice on how to get more users, pitch their startup, and raise money from investors.
Plus, he'll share how you can stay sane even with the crazy hours and stressful life of a founder. Jason is a high energy speaker with lots of ideas, humor, and this workshop will be very interactive and give everyone time to ask questions and think about what they're learning.
