In partnership with Bain & Company as our Platinum Sponsor, the INSEAD Asia Business Club is hosting the 2nd annual Asia Business Conference on 15th March 2014 at the INSEAD Singapore Asia Campus. The theme of this year’s conference is Trends in the Asian Market, and we aim to bring together prominent business leaders to share their thoughts about trends and developments in the region.

The theme of this year’s conference is Trends in the Asian Market, and we aim to bring together prominent business leaders to share their thoughts about trends and developments in the region.


Apart from keynote speeches from prominent leaders in the industry and government establishments, the conference will also host a panel discussion on Strategic Partnerships in Asia. Through this conference, we hope to present the best ideas, technology and innovation that will change Asia in the coming years and better equip business leaders to seize new opportunities in the region.


Our Guests of Honor for this year’s conference are: the Ambassador from the Embassy of Philippines in Singapore and the High Commissioner from the Office of the High Commission of Bangladesh in Singapore.

“Mr. Mahbub Uz Zaman is a career diplomat. He joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 15th February, 1988.”

“In the Ministry he served as Director General SAARC Wing and South Asia Wing. He served in various capacities at Bangladesh Missions abroad in Delhi, Ottawa, New York, Tokyo and Geneva.

From 2008 December to 2012 September he had been serving as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. On 24th September 2012 he joined the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore. He presented his credential to the president of Singapore on 25 the October 2012.”

  • Mr. Charles Ormiston

Chairman of South-East Asia, Bain & Company

Mr. Charles Ormiston is the founding partner of Bain & Company’s Singapore office. His track record spans a broad range of industries including consumer products, technology, telecommunications, logistics, and government institutions. Mr. Ormiston earned an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar. Mr. Ormiston has held several directorial positions in renowned establishments including the Sentosa Development Corp (Chair Audit Committee), the Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore, MediaCorp, and Singapore University of Technology and Design. Mr. Ormiston is currently the chairman of the Board of Governors at United World College of Southeast Asia.


Mr. Ormiston will talk about Corporate Transformation in Asia: why businesses will transform in this part of the world.


  • Mr. Juan Aguiriano

President, Asia-Pacific at DuPont Sustainable Solutions

Currently leading DuPont Sustainable Solutions (DSS) in Asia-Pacific, a business unit that delivers solutions to DuPont’s corporate clients enabling them to learn, design, develop, implement and deliver sustainable growth across their operations, Mr. Aguiriano has also held multiple global leadership positions for various business units of the DuPont Corporation in the past, including international assignments based in Asia, Europe and the USA. Mr. Aguiriano will be a part of the panel discussion at the conference.


  • Mr. Rajesh Rao

Chief Technology Officer, Bamboo Technologies

Mr. Rao is a serial entrepreneur and has also transformed several large corporate organizations in APAC region. Currently, Mr. Rao is CTO of Bamboo Technologies, a firm focused on creating new technology businesses in Asia. Bamboo funds, acquires, and grows multiple new enterprises focused on cloud, big data analytics, mobile, and social media solutions. Mr. Rao will participate in the panel discussion and share his experiences of developing partnerships through long term relationships in the region.


  • Mr. Vikram Aggarwal

CEO at eat2eat Ptd Ltd

An entrepreneur, Mr. Aggarwal created eat2eat, which is Asia Pacific's largest on-line booking site for food and beverage reservations. The eat2eat reservation software also runs major hotel dining sites for real time reservations including those for Starwood, Marriott International, New World/Rosewood, Hilton Hotels, Sofitel, and the Anantara Group, amongst others. eat2eat has a set of unique and key offerings, including “pay as you go” pricing, branding in corporate colors, and full ownership of your database. The company also has class leading TMS software (MaRc system), which is proving to be the software of choice for a range of leading hotel groups and restaurant chains. Mr. Aggarwal regularly interacts with MBA students at INSEAD through the EiR program. Mr. Aggarwal will be delivering a keynote speech and also take part in the panel discussion, with a view from an entrepreneur’s angle, at the conference.


  • Dr. Benni Ben Ari

Managing Director at BBA Consultants Pte Ltd

With more than 34 years of business management and international marketing experience in the High Tech Defense Electronics Industry, Dr. Benni Ben Ari was involved in business development, project management, strategic planning, marketing innovation, marketing techniques, negotiations, and marketing management in the Asian region. Dr. Ari focuses on the cultural aspects of conducting business in Asia. Apart from a keynote speech, Dr. Ari will also take part in the panel discussion.


  • Professor Michael Witt

Affiliate Professor of Asian Business and Comparative Management

Professor Witt teaches and researches international business at INSEAD and is an Associate in Research at Harvard's Reischauer Institute. Prof. Witt’s research explores how the conduct of business and management varies by society and how firms doing business abroad respond to these differences. Prof Witt’s publications include four major books: The Oxford Handbook of Asian Business Systems (2013, Oxford U. Press, with Gordon Redding), Major Works in Asian Business and Management (2012, SAGE), The Future of Chinese Capitalism (2007, Oxford U. Press, with Gordon Redding), and Changing Japanese Capitalism (2006, Cambridge U. Press). Prof. Witt will moderate the panel discussion session at our conference.
