Sculptures of Buddhist Bodhisattva historically reflect the high fashion of their times. Which means, Guan Yin should be wearing Chanel today. But why isnt she?
Initially presented at the "Buddhism & Australia" conference 2015, the paper traces the development of Chinese Buddhism though the material culture of Guan Yin.
We will also introduce the different manifests of Guan Yin with artifacts from a heritage religious sculpture shop.
A must attend for history and heritage lovers and for any traveler who visits monasteries in Singapore and around the world.
