Ceramics surface decoration masterclass with Joanne Searle
This is a must attend workshop for all who are interested in decorating your ceramic pots, especially those who always wonder how you get your own printed images on pots, here is a chance to learn how, as well as other slip techniques. (Even we are going to attend and take notes!)
Ceramics surface decoration techniques taught by Senior lecturer - Joanne Searle - at the Australian National University, School of Art, Ceramics department. She will be showing us how to make your own ceramics transfers, and specific slip decorating methods that allows you to create layers upon layers, and understanding how the different techniques will affect each other, making you confident in decorating the surfaces of your clay pots.

Time:10am - 1pm (Tea-break of drinks and cakes/kuehs will be provided)
Includes: All material such as oxides, slips and clay used during the hands-on practice for everyone, and firing of one selected work made during the workshop.
Pre-requisites: As this workshop focused on just surface decoration, a basic understanding of pottery will suffice. Those who do handbuilding or throwing at any level will find this workshop useful.
Itinerary: Joanne will briefly share her art practice journey with the participants before demonstrating the 3 or more techniques using slips and oxides, that also includes making your own transfers. Participants will then have a hands-on session trying those techniques and using the pre-made leather hard clay slabs or pots provided by the studio to apply their decorative techniques on.
