You are cordially welcome to join our Entrepreneurship event, a collaboration between the HKUST, UOL and Cornell alumni committees.

Participants of this event will hear from 3 successful Entrepreneurs who have made it in the Digital space.


Moderator:

Kenrick Drijkoningen - Head of growth at Golden Gate Ventures (HKUST alumni)

Kenrick has been building online ventures for over 20 years and specialises in all things digital marketing and growth. From digital strategy and funnel optimisation to the actual execution of campaigns across SEM, Facebook, SEO and App Install networks. His roots are in Holland but he moved to Asia in 2004 where he spent time in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has managed over $25m in annual ad spend and worked directly with some of the most successful startups in the region. Kenrick is currently Head of Growth at Golden Gate Ventures where he helps portfolio companies get the best ROI out of their digital marketing budgets and scale profitably. Kenrick completed a degree in Business Studies at Tilburg University in the The Netherlands, and got an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In his spare time Kenrick runs his own online affiliate business while also being an active angel investor. He has a particular interest in gaming, travel and mobile first businesses.

Luke Jannsen - Founder and Chairman of Tigerspike (UOL alumni)

Luke oversaw TigerSpike's growth from a 3 person mobile technology company in 2003, to the worlds leading personal media company with over 200 staff across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, London, San Francisco, New York and Singapore. Before TigerSpike, Luke completed a degree in Computer Science with Management from Kings College, London. Luke then went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in London before moving to Australia and ultimately becoming manager in charge of KPMGs Information, Communication, and Entertainment service line for its Information Risk Management division. In his spare time Luke sails competitively, completing the Sydney to Hobart yacht race in 2004. Luke is also the 2009 world whistling champion!


Gillian Tee - Co-founder and CEO of Homage (Columbia alumni)

Homage is a senior home care solution backed by venture capital firms 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures and SeedPlus. Homage combines trained and curated caregivers with smart on-demand technology, allowing seniors to age at home with grace, control and dignity. Prior to Homage, she co-founded Rocketrip, a Y-Combinator and Bessemer Ventures-backed travel tech startup based in New York City that's raised more than 18M USD and grew the business till current profitability. Prior to Rocketrip, Gillian held various sales, business development, product management and technology leadership positions at Amazon and Accenture. As a Singaporean Native, Gillian studied Computer Science at the University of Melbourne and got an MBA from Columbia Business School. In her spare time, she catches waves in good swell beaches around Asia and the U.S., enjoys whiskey and geeks out over code and more techie stuff.


Johannes Jaeger - Cofounder and CEO of Hack Horizon (HKUST alumni)

Originally from Germany, Johannes has been living around Asia Pacific for over ten years. During university, he represented Hong Kong at the world championships for underwater robotics where his team placed 3rd out of 600 teams. After leaving the robotics team he co-founded Plain Exchange, a peer-to-peer foreign exchange platform, which was voted 'Top Fintech Start-up' by Barclays Bank, and received an all-expenses paid start-up boot camp training at Stanford University. An active hacker, he and his team won the world's largest hackathon: AngelHack, organised Europe's largest hackathon: Junction and the largest hackathon in Greater China: hackUST. His latest venture is Hack Horizon (www.hackhorizon.com) – the world’s first TravelTech hackathon on a plane, which he co-founded to extend the innovation runway beyond the hackathon and break silos within the travel and start-up ecosystem. Johannes studied Global Business and Information Systems at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
