What is Ayaschool?

Her signature improvisation series Ayaschool (circa 1997) has always stirred up the music community by ever adventurous and obscure programming of musicians encompassing the genre, experiences of each individual and discipline - it is an extremely inclusive yet adheres strictly to 2 core principles; listening & making music.

and Jungle Jam?

Ayaschool has had many different themes in last 20 years, but the participatory version entitled as “Jungle Jam”, was mainly held at Blu Jaz Cafe where she welcomes anyone who is willing to listen and add to the music, as the jammers will stay on the stage from the moment he/she has joined the jam.

and Jungle Jam?

Ayaschool has had many different themes in last 20 years, but the participatory version entitled as “Jungle Jam”, was mainly held at Blu Jaz Cafe where she opened the platform and welcomed anyone who is willing to listen and add to the music, as the jammers will stay on the stage from the moment he/she has joined the jam. It has been a continuous process of listening and pushing yourselves to create music on the spot 'together'.

How will it be organised?

For this special inaugural instalment, Aya invites 20 enthusiasts to gather to improvise, and make music together - fret not, it will be workshopped in the first 30min, the rest of 2 hours will be making music and it will be all documented.

'I don't have any experience in this...'

You don’t need to be a Jazz musician. You don’t need to be an experienced improviser, you don’t have to know any songs! All you need to do is to listen, and be ready to let the music grow - it's about the process. Let’s see what music will be like in the end!

Welcome to Ayaschool : Jungle Jam where an adventure of sound and music awaits you.
