The cost operates on a play it forward model - where your child's fee will cover the cost of a disadvantaged youth to attend either the same workshop or one we hold in future. With limited spaces available, booking is essential. We have an introductory rate available for this session.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Ever been to a restaurant and been blown away by the myriad of textures, color and overall presentation? This workshop will take your child through the foundations of Molecular Gastronomy!
Students will learn how to create caviar from yoghurt in the very first STEAM session for Beyond Awesome! We will explore the technique of spherification, which is commonly used in molecular gastronomy. Spherification transforms liquids such as juices and soup to become perfect spheres that resemble caviar in texture and shape. Students will play 'chef' and create jelly spheres from yoghurt and will learn the differences between solids and liquids in a fun and delicious manner!
OUR WORKSHOP HOSTS
Yi Han is a Scientist with a passion for research and education. She majored in Molecular and Cell Biology, and graduated from NUS in 2016. Besides wet lab research, she has taught undergraduate students about biology and scientific writing. Yi Han has been a WorldChange Agent with Blessings in a Bag since 2012 and is interested in science communication.
