Words Go Round 2017 - HISTORY AFOOT IN A WRITTEN COUNTRY

Description

Encounter defining moments of modern Singapore history with Gwee Li Sui, editor of Written Country, beyond key events such as the Japanese Occupation and the independence of Singapore. How are these moments and places reflected upon in Singapore literature? Does history unfold differently when told through stories and poems? From the Singapore River to the Sook Ching Memorial, this literary trail brings you to four significant sites on foot to survey history through literary works.

Participants should be dressed in comfortable shoes and are prepared to walk. Please bring along an umbrella or poncho in case of wet weather!
