Roughhousing and Falling @ MacRitchie Reservoir
This class will focus on a unique mix of roughhousing and the art of falling. Both activities are great ways to build up strength, flexibility and coordination. This time be ready to get face-to-face and in contact with a non-static obstacle – another human! You will soon learn to adapt to the challenges of an unpredictable situation. Learning to fall safely goes hand-in-hand with roughhousing, and you’ll be much more prepared the next time you fall for real.
This class is non-combative and not self-defense based. Be prepared to come into close contact with other students during this class.
Description: Each group class is an
introduction to basic human movement skills such as crawling,
balancing, running, climbing, lifting, carrying, catching, and throwing.
Each class will focus on different skills to establish a solid
foundation that will help you progress to more complex and intense
per person. Discount if you bring friends. Bundled classes available
($25/class for 5 lessons; $20/class for 10 lessons).
Suggested attire: Comfortable
workout clothes (that can get dirty). Wear leggings if you might get
itchy from contact with the grass. Minimalist shoes (Vibram FF, Luna
sandals, etc) if you have a pair or even better, barefoot.
Wet Weather: We
will continue if the rain is light. We will postpone the full lesson or
part of it if the rain is heavy or if there is lightning.
Miscellaneous: Bring snacks and plenty of water. Be prepared to be outside for the entire session (i.e. wear sunscreen, if necessary).
