Join this introductory class in needlework for children by artist Marine Ky. Learn how to hold a needle, thread a beads or sequins, and then make and create things using these skills. Transform everyday items such as dried flowers and pasta by recycling them into beautiful beads for painting and stitchery work, or to make a necklace.
Suitable for children ages 8 to 12, accompanied by a guardian. Limited seats available. Each session is 40 minutes.
Admission to this workshop is free. Registration is required. Admission to the galleries can be paid at the front desk.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marine KY was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 1966. She studied in Paris and has an MA in printmaking from the University of Tasmania. Her recent exhibitions include The Epidermis of the Earth II (Mekong) at the Concourse, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay (Singapore, 2011) and Each Moment the World is Being (Re)created at the Institut Français (Phnom Penh, 2013). She has also participated in the i Light Marina Bay light art festival (Singapore, 2012) and the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale (2005). She has been artist-in-residence at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Chiangmai University Art Museum (Thailand), School of Art & Design, Monash University (Melbourne, Australia), and Aomori.
