About the Institution

The Central Sikh Temple is located at the junction of Serangoon Road and Towner Road. It was first established in 1912 in a bungalow on Queen Street. It is the oldest Sikh temple in Singapore. It was referred to as Wada Gurdwara (Punjabi: Big Temple), with the subsequent establishment of smaller temples by the Sikh community. The current temple building was completed in 1986 at its present location, and is managed by the Central Sikh Gurdwara Board.
