"NewSpace: From Laptop to Launchpad" - Public Lecture (Saturday, Yale-NUS College)

Description
The global privatisation of space, so-called "NewSpace," provides unprecedented access to outer space for the average citizen. Whether through the use of GPS, weather prediction, or broadband television, our lives are heavily intertwined with space tech today. In the next few years we will continue to develop as a space-faring species, with missions to explore the Moon, to mine asteroids, and to fly to Mars.

Dr. Bidushi Bhattacharya will discuss NewSpace, entrepreneurship, and the "Laptop to LaunchPad" approach to developing innovative technologies for space.

Dr. Bhattacharya is an ex-NASA scientist and CEO & Founder of the Singapore-based startup Bhattacharya Space Enterprises (BSE). As part of its mission to build the space-tech ecosystem in Singapore, BSE is the national coordinator for United Nations World Space Week 2016.

This event is jointly organized by BSE and Yale-NUS Science Society.
