Lunch with Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir
Women complain about discrimination; men say we are imagining things.
Women say that sometimes we are forced to do things we don’t really want to; men say that’s pure rubbish.
Women say that lewd jokes and inappropriate touching are not appropriate in the workplace; men say we have no sense of humour.
But the fact is women earn less than men in the same jobs. There are far too few women on company boards and in high-level political office. In government offices and schools, Muslim women and girls are forced to wear hijab or face disapproval from their colleagues.
Women do not complain for no reason. They are facing real issues of discrimination, harassment and violence.
