MESYM Documentary Night #32: Disobedience + Mega-dam film series

View Disobedience + Mega-dam film series event on MESYM, on Facebook

MESYM’s Documentary Night is held every 2nd Tuesday of each month. Everyone is invited to come hang out, watch a documentary, meet like-minded friends and take part in the discussion. Admission is free!

For our May event we have a combo. We will first watch Disobedience, a film featuring courageous people on the front lines of the climate crisis on every continent. Next we will watch the Mega-dam film series, prepared by The Borneo Project, on the Mega-dams slated for construction in Sarawak.

About Disobedience

Disobedience is the story of the struggle to save the world. It tells the David vs Goliath tales of front line leaders around the world risking life and limb in the fight for a liveable climate.

Interwoven with this riveting verité footage are the most renowned voices in the global conversation around social movements and climate justice for a series that is personal, passionate and powerful.

The stakes could not be higher, nor the missions more critical.

About the Mega-dam film series

Sarawak’s mega-hydro projects are driven by the state government through the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy, or SCORE. If built, these dams will force tens of thousands of people from their land, drive untold species to extinction, pollute the rivers—the lifelines of the jungle—and produce more greenhouse gas emissions per megawatt of energy than a coal-fired power plant.
