Description

This talk briefly traces the history of ideas about energy usage in architecture, especially those related to air conditioning, from the era of the Great Depression, to the first efforts at energy conservation after World War II, the redirection of architecture following the energy crises of the 1970s, and the contemporary ideal of zero-energy buildings.
