Site Visit to Kampung Siam

Description

PHT Site Visit: Kampung Siam Pulau Tikus

Facilitator: Boon Leau Aroonratana (Spokesperson for Kampung Siam

Kampung Siam is one of Penang’s surviving heritage enclaves, but may soon cease to exist as it has been earmarked for a hotel development. The land was granted to the Burmese and Siamese communities in 1845 by Queen Victoria for the communal and religious use of these two communities. Kampung Siam is a trove for Siamese traditions and culture in Penang and includes the surviving Menora dancer and PHT Living Heritage Treasures Award Recipient, Wan Dee Aroonratana.

This site visit aims to capture the moments before the village is removed from the Pulau Tikus community. Come explore and experience the live in Kampung Siam before it becomes a distant memory with us.

To register, please call at 04- 264 2631 or email us at info@pht.org.my. Light refreshments will be served.
