Redefining Volunteering

Description

Discover the professional and personal benefits of helping others

Guest speaker Angela Ortiz from OGA for Aid will share the strategic approach her organization takes to support the recovery of communities in Tohoku and the invaluable role volunteers play in all of their projects.

Afterwards, we will explore different aspects of volunteering in small discussion groups led by volunteers from different organizations in Japan-giving you the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and exchange ideas. We will use a "world-cafe" style of discussion to give participants opportunities to interact with a variety of people during the event.

Schedule

  • 1830 Check-in and Greetings (Food and drinks available)
  • 1900 Redefining Volunteering Event
  • 2130 Networking Time
  • 2200 Event ends

Volunteering is often seen as an act of “giving”-time, money, or materials-however, we don’t often hear about how we gain and benefit from such experiences. Join our discussion on how volunteering can bring personal and professional reward to you.

This event is a great opportunity to find out about volunteering and career development in Japan while networking with young professionals from around Tokyo.
