The Creation of My Body Devised Theatre Masterclass
Instructor: Giovanni Ortega
10 June, 2016 — 19 June, 2016
10th and 17th June (Friday), 7.30pm — 10.30pm
11th and 18th (Saturday), 3.00pm — 10pm
12th and 19th (Sunday), 3.30pm — 6.30pm
Actors will deepen their understanding and use of acting techniques. Through devised theatre, they will learn to portray believable characters, both real and imaginary. Exploring the theme ‘Art and Skin’, students will create their own work using performance techniques such as Autodrama techniques, movement, character profiling, narrative writing and staging.
The production will explore how the persistent portrayal of ‘Skin’ and ‘Body’ by people in South East Asia, as well as by dominant Western media, create certain relationships between “color,” “race” and “otherness” in the global imaginary. It also will examine how these ideas influence our perceptions and frame our prejudices about subjects unfamiliar to ourselves.
The workshop culminates in a paid performance for the public.
Participant-Actors will be paid a percentage of the box office.
The public performance will be held on: 25 Jun, Sat 26 Jun, Sun
This workshop is open to everyone from all backgrounds.
Payment plans are available. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Registration closes 26th April 2016.
