Watch Local is back! This year, we will screen the first short and feature films from an eclectic selection of Singapore filmmakers such as Boo Junfeng, Wee Li Lin and Liao Jiekai. Each night will focus on a different director, giving a unique perspective on each one's creative journey from their first short film to their first feature film. Post-screening discussions will accompany some of these sessions, allowing the audience insight into how these filmmakers have grown in their craft. From comedy to horror to drama, there's something for everyone!

All screenings are held at the Objectifs Chapel Gallery. Go to http://www.objectifs.com.sg/watchlocal2016/ for more information about the programme.

Screenings are free but pre-registration is required. Entry by donation.

Objectifs is a partner of ‘Watch Local’, an initiative under the Singapore Film Commission.

Bio of Chai Yee Wei

One of Singapore's most prolific film directors, Chai Yee Wei belongs to a new wave of award-winning directors, set to shape the future of local cinema. (Business Times, August 2, 2013) Mostly known for his horror films (which he wrote, directed and co-produced) Blood Ties還魂 (2009) and Twisted 撞鬼 (2011), 2013 has been a bumper year for him. His most recent music-movie, That Girl in Pinafore 我的朋友,我的同學,我愛過的一切(2013), was lauded at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). It caught the attention of the producers of the highly acclaimed Chinese reality talent show, The Voice of China, who immediately sought after him to direct their own brand of music-movie, starring contestants from the first and second seasons. This highly anticipated movie I WANT YOU 中國好聲音之為你轉身 is slated for a 2013 Christmas release in China, while Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and other territories can expect a January 2014 release.
