TGIF:Make it Happen with Betty Ashman

Join Betty Ashman, founder of Expat Fairs and author of the popular book – Make It Happen: 7 Steps to Thrive for Womenpreneurs as she helps us figure out what holds us back from achieving our business dreams and shares practical steps to realize them.

Betty Ashman is a mother and a successful entrepreneur. Following her corporate career across the Asia-Pacific region in major companies such as IKEA and Barang Barang, and managing a slew of entrepreneurial endeavours, she launched The Expat Fairs.

As an experienced entrepreneur, Betty was familiar with the struggle of many small and medium-sized businesses to reach their ideal customers. Even though they have good products and are passionate about what they do, they quickly burn out and run out of resources. At the other end of the spectrum, she knew there were customers who were willing to pay for unique products and services. Betty launched The Expat Fairs, which runs high-end fairs in Singapore while connecting a community of entrepreneurs online through its prominent expatriate fairs and trade shows website, to close the gap between these businesses and their partners and empower these businesses to thrive.

Betty has spoken at many corporate events on strategy and entry into Asian markets, and been consulted by major companies looking to launch their businesses in Asia.

Beyond her corporate achievements and her strong presence in the bazaar scene, she is well-known in the local community as a champion for female entrepreneurs and businesswomen, having personally advised and mentored many businesswomen and designers regarding how to start and grow their businesses. She was also voted by the public the Best Community Leader in the Extraordinary Women's Awards 2014, which was organised by the International Women's Federation of Commerce and Industry (Singapore).

For over thirty years, Betty has juggled business, family, friends and charities. The pitfalls she experienced along the way increased her determination to succeed and share her valuable experiences with other women.
