Open Class - Faculty Studies IIA: Fortepiano with Dr Eleanor Tan

Description

Open Class - Faculty Studies IIA: Fortepiano

Facilitator: Dr Eleanor Tan (Vice Dean, School of Music)

Synopsis:

This Faculty Studies class exposes students to the fortepiano, a predecessor of the grand piano. The instrument we have at NAFA is a modern copy of the German maker Andreas Stein, who made fortepianos for Mozart’s use in the 1770s and 80s. This is the instrument that the piano music of Haydn and early Beethoven were written for.

There are 2 sessions available:

a) 11am - 12.30pm

b) 12.30 - 2pm
